Orthopedics

About the Department

Orthopedic surgery, or Orthopedics, is the surgical branch focused on addressing acute, chronic, traumatic, overuse injuries and other disorders affecting the musculoskeletal system. This expansive field in Orthopedics delves into the well-being of joints in the human body, addressing ailments and accidents that lead to bone fractures, potentially disabling individuals and hindering a pain-free life.

The Department of Orthopedics is well-established within our institution, covering all sub-specialties, including trauma, arthroplasty, arthroscopy, spine surgery, and pediatric orthopedics. We provide round-the-clock emergency services for trauma and accident care, and our well-equipped operation theatre facilitates various surgeries, from multiple fractures to spine injuries.

Learning in the department is conducted through routine classes and bedside teaching. The rigorous teaching program requires residents to attend daily classes, culminating in Grand Rounds, where cases from the previous week are discussed and analyzed.

Students also enjoy access to related departments such as spine, arthroscopy, and orthoplasty, ensuring a comprehensive and relevant training experience. The department collaborates closely with Radiology, Pathology, Oncology, Microbiology, Orthotics, Prosthetics, and Physiotherapy.

Moreover, the department provides access to the Advanced Learning Center (ALC), where the Surgical Skills Lab allows residents to practice dissection on simulators, enhancing their hands-on experience and skill development.
